The in-room mini bar prices at the Bellagio

    1. I don’t understand why hotels do this. It probably adds very, very little to their bottom line while creating a bad feeling with guests.

    2. What’s THIS??? No $50 charge just to open the mini bar and look? No supplemental refrigeration charge? No 18% staff support fee, plus another 18% gratutity? Looks like the Bellagio is missing out on more ways to gouge its guests.

    3. This is why going to the liquor store nearby is so important. I could afford that but would be stupid to open that fridge.

    4. That’s why you go to the CVS or Walgreens and get snacks and drinks a couple casinos down the strip.

    5. Fun part is right across the street is planet Hollywood, with an ABC store and a Walgreens either of which sell all that stuff way way cheaper.

    6. The bartender asks “Why the long face?” The man replies “I just found out my wife is sleeping with another man. I’ve decided I’m going to drink myself to death.” The bartender looks shocked and says “I’m sorry I can’t help you kill yourself.” The man asks “Well what would you do in my situation?” The bartender puffs himself up a bit and says “If I found out a guy was sleeping with my wife I wouldn’t sit around feeling sorry for myself, I’d kill the guy.” The man jumps up from his stool and shouts “That’s a great idea! Thanks!” and runs out of the bar. A couple hours goes by and the bartender is starting to get nervous when the man walks back into the bar with a smile on his face. “Did you kill the guy?” The bartender asks nervously. “Nope! I slept with your wife. Whiskey please.”

Anyone else curious how much if this they throw away?

Surprised you don’t have to swipe a credit card to open it.

Also do they have vending machines in the ice room like other hotels? ( I’ve never been in a hotel with a minibar lol)

    8. A lot of “I don’t get why they do this” posts.
It’s a premium. If you don’t want to pay these, there’s a CVS right in the middle of the strip. There are minimarts in the lobby of each resort. You can bring your own stuff. There are 7-11s all over Vegas.

This is not for customer service, this is 100% for the people who will choose convience over cost in Las Vegas, a city that is 100% money. Whether they have the money, or they won some money, or they’re too hungover to go out and get stuff.

They’re not going to price it reasonably to sell at quantity. It’s meant as a luxury at the Bellagio, a fairly high end resort. The whole point of this Vegas experience is ‘high roller’, not Motel 6 in the Wisconsin Dells.

Same reason people will go to night clubs and pay $250 for ‘bottle service’ to get a private table and a $40 bottle of vodka brought to your table.

For those saying, “this has to be a bad feeling for guests”, it’s the exact opposite. It’s catering towards the Vegas feeling and luxury of being able to drop 20 on a bottle of water because you can, and have it delivered to your room and be pampered.

I’d never pay this amount, but that’s what it’s for.

    9. The crazy thing is how it’s just regular brand-name stuff. Like, just regular red bull, regular Dasani. Not even a markup for some luxury brand, just regular old shit you get at the gas station.

    10. I’d be brining my own booze, drinks, and snacks but I also doubt I’ll ever stay at the Bellagio

    11. Terry Benedict got all the money back from insurance. And Willie Bank’s casino is no longer competition. He should be ashamed charging these prices.

I went to an all inclusive resort where they had a liquor fountain in the room. Think about like a soda fountain at McDonalds, but liquor.

If these were the prices, I would not be able to afford my house.
